Settlements
A provider of cable television, broadband Internet access, IP telephony over cable and telecommunication services in Israel. The company holds a special permit from the Civil Administration for the provision of cable television and telecommunication services to the settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
One of the company’s subsidiaries – Hot Mobile, assembled 121 antennas and telecommunication infrastructure facilities in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, some of this infrastructure is located on confiscated privately owned Palestinian land. Hot Mobile also pays royalties to Israeli settlements.
Using this infrastructure, the company provides telecommunications services to dozens of Israeli settlements, in addition to the operation of sales and customer service centers in the settlement of Ma’ale Adumim, the settlement neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev in East Jerusalem and Katzrin in the occupied Golan.
Additionally, the company enjoys the structural advantages of Israeli cellular services providers over Palestinian competitors in the Palestinian market. Hot Mobile operates four sales and customer service centers in Palestinian neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem, an inaccessible area for the Palestinian cellular companies and therefore constitutes a captive market.
Hot Mobile was the exclusive provider of cellular phone services to the Israeli army (since 2005 and until 2011); this included the infrastructure set for use throughout the occupied Palestinian territory. There are documents of the company reporting at least 200 antennas set inside military bases of the Israeli army. Who Profits was able to confirm that the company holds four cellular antennas in military checkpoints across the West Bank.
Moreover, Hot Mobile operates the communication network installed in the Jerusalem light train’s motor coaches. The train connects the settlement neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem with the city center.
Ownership
The company is a fully owned subsidiary of Altice, a multinational cable and telecommunications company, headed by the French-Israeli businessman Patrick Drahi.
Company bonds are still registered for trading in the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
