A publicly traded US-based designer and manufacturer of specialized electronic systems and components for critical applications active in homeland security, healthcare, defense and aerospace markets.
Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Rapiscan Systems, a manufacturer of inspection and screening systems for persons and cargo, the company is involved in supplying equipment to the Israeli Civil Administration (ICA).
Rapiscan’s scanning machines and full body scanners are installed in the Qalandiya, Bethlehem and Irtah (Sha’ar Efrayim) checkpoints in the occupied West Bank, and in the entrance to the Western Wall compound in East Jerusalem. The company provided these scanners through its sole representative in Israel, G1 Secure Solutions (formerly G4S Israel).
In March 2016, G4S Israel was awarded a one-year contract without tender for supplying magnometric portals to the ICA in 10 West Bank District Coordination Liaisons (DCL): Nablus, Jenin, Judea and Samaria, Abu Dis, Ramallah, Jericho, Bethlehem, Qalqiliyah, Tulkarem and Hebron. The DCLs, established as part of the Oslo Accords, are military coordination offices between the ICA and the Palestinian Authority charged with issuing permits to Palestinians. Without permits, Palestinians cannot move in, out or within the West Bank or the besieged Gaza Strip.
In April 2017, a one-year maintenance contract for 9 magnetometers installed in Civil Administration sites was approved without tender for the amount of 40,000 NIS.
The company’s scanners are also installed in Israeli airports, in the Knesset, in the Israeli president’s residence, in the Israeli Prison Service facilities and in Israeli courts.
In December 2006, AS&E American Science and Engineering, acquired by OSI Systems in 2016, was chosen by Chemonics International to supply cargo inspection scanners to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, to be used in West Bank and Gaza commercial checkpoints. The scanners supplied by the company were manufactured by the Chinese company Nuctech. The Israeli company Eltel Technologies provides the installation and maintenance services for these scanners.
Company scanners were installed in five Israeli checkpoints, Karni and Kerem Shalom checkpoints along the border of the besieged Gaza Strip, and Sha’ar Efrayim, Tarqumya and Jalameh checkpoints in the West Bank.
The company is publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol OSIS.
