About the project
Who Profits from the Occupation is a research project dedicated to exposing the commercial involvement of Israeli and international companies in the continuing Israeli control over Palestinian and Syrian land. Currently, we focus our attention on three main areas of corporate involvement in the occupation: The Settlement Industry, Economic Exploitation and Control of Population.
Online Database and Information Centre
On this website, the project publishes information about companies which are commercially active in the occupation. The online database reflects a part of an on-going investigation. The project serves as an information centre for queries about corporate involvement in the occupation from individuals and civil society organizations working to end the Israeli occupation and/or to promote international law, social corporate responsibility, social justice and labour rights, in Israel and internationally
In-Depth Reports and Case Studies
The project produces in-depth reports and Flash reports about specific companies and projects. Our latest publications include:
- The Basel System of Hewlett-Packard (HP) in checkpoints.
- The direct involvement of Israeli banks which finance the Israeli occupation.
- The new Tel Aviv-Jerusalem fast train line which crosses into occupied Palestinian areas.
- The reliance of the Israeli wine industry on vineyards in the occupied territory.
In addition, recently-issued reports are dedicated to several case studies which look at the occupation-related activity of particular companies, such as:
- Ahava - Exploitation of Occupied Resources
- Sodastream - Production in Settlements.
- G4S (Hashmira) - Private Security Companies and the Israeli Occupation.
The Powerful Impact of Strategic Research
The valuable information and knowledge offered by Who Profits helps civil society organizations and policy makers in many places stimulate a candid public debates concerning the economic effects of the occupation and the international and local economic interests that play a role in sustaining Israeli control of occupied areas. These factors are critical to understanding the ways these interests influence political decision-making and shape the reality in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Despite the great efforts being put into the collection and compilation of the information on this website, it might still contain inaccuracies and errors. Please contact us with any corrections, suggestions or questions.
